Who?
Portland-area discordians, dysnomians, erisians and others of much ilk. Out-of-towners are totally welcome, but you'll have to make your own arrangements for a place to crash. Your local hosts are Telarus and Johnny Brainwash.
What?
It's the international Day of Discord! Getting discordians together is easier than you'd think. We've done it for 8 years at Kallisticon- one afternoon in the park should be no big deal. The plans include a potluck barbecue, so bring something to grill. Further activities may be planned, or may arise spontaneously. Watch this space for further announcements.
When?
Saturday, August 23, 2008. 1PM. No telling how late we'll go. Depending on the crowd, we could end up in a coffee shop, a bar, or just plain jail. If you can't make it in the afternoon, drop Brainwash a line and we'll try to arrange to meet you later on.
Where?
Laurelhurst Park in southeast Portland, just below 39th. Look for us on the Ankeny St. side, between the bathrooms and the pond. The exact spot will depend on what area we can snag. Watch this space for a backup location if the weather doesn't cooperate.
Why?
Sticking apart is more fun when we do it together.
What should I bring?
Your bad self. Something to grill, or something that goes well with barbecue (cole slaw, potato salad, etc.) Bring some to share. Bring a water bottle as well as other beverages. Be advised that alcohol is not permitted. You may want a blanket to sit on, sunscreen, all the crap you'd bring for a day in the park. Frisbees are awesome. Noisemakers, funny hats and objects for show and tell can't hurt.
